BCCI Central Contract update: Virat and Rohit will be dropped from the A+ category. Indian cricket team’s rising star and current Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill, could soon receive a major promotion. According to reports, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) releases its next central contract list, Gill may be included in the top Grade A+ category. With this promotion, his annual salary could increase to ₹7 crore, bringing him on par with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
BCCI’s Important Meeting on December 22
According to an India Today report, the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting may be held on December 22, after the conclusion of the India vs. South Africa T20 series. This meeting will be crucial for several major decisions:
- Shubman Gill’s Promotion: The meeting may finalize Gill’s upgrade from Grade A to Grade A+.
- Decision on Kohli and Rohit’s Contracts: Since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now only play in the ODI format, a decision on whether or not they will be included in the central contracts may also be taken at this meeting.
Central Contracts: Salary for Each Grade?
The BCCI provides different grades in its central contracts to players based on their performance, participation in different formats, and experience.
The annual salaries under these grades are as follows:

- Rohit Sharma
- Jasprit Bumrah
- Ravindra Jadeja
After Shubman Gill’s inclusion in Grade A+, it is expected that he could become the fifth player on this list of legends. Gill is currently the captain of India’s Test and ODI teams, and also the vice-captain of the T20 team, which is the main reason for this major promotion.
